Rally at Mimi Walters' office for climate justice #CA45th

  • Rep. Mimi Walters Office 3333 Michelson Drive Suite 230 Irvine, CA, 92612 (map)

Everyone has a right to clean air, clean water and a healthy planet. Unfortunately, our elected officials at all levels have decided to instead follow the short term profits of their donors, at the expense of the land rights of Native Americans in the way of the Dakota Access Pipeline, the lead poisioning of thousands of Flint residents, and the massive amount of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere daily, which will continue to raise the earth's temperature and lead to more and more unpredictable and extreme weather patterns worldwide.

Our representative Mimi Walters seems content to follow the party line on issues of climate change and broader environmental justice issues. Since the start of this session of Congress, Walters has already cosponsered a bill to gut the EPA, claiming that it overreached its authority when it classified greenhouse gases as pollutants! (https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/637/text).

The constituents of California's 45th district are concerned about Walters' positions on the climate, and want to have an opportunity to discuss these concerns with their congresswoman. Lamentably, Walters has yet to schedule any sort of public town hall meeting where her constituents could ask her what she is doing for them as their elected representative. No matter! We will meet at her office on Wednesday the 15th, as we've been doing each week since the inauguration, to make our requests to whatever staffers will listen.
