The remedy for hate is love. In accordance with our American principles of liberty, equality and justice, this event is a peaceful sidewalk vigil to show the Muslim community, including fellow citizens and immigrants, that we love, support and value them and are unified and in solidarity with them.
This is not a protest, but a vigil. Anyone wishing to stand up for our American principles and provide a light in the dark to those in our community and to those who are seeking to be a part of our community, who are being persecuted due to their Muslim faith, may come at any time during the vigil.
Please bring electronic candles, or candles in cups or with wax protectors, or other forms of light.
Please also bring signs of support for the Muslim community!
PARKING: The IIOC is aware of this event and has graciously invited us to park in their parking lot. I believe the majority of parking is in the back.
PRAYERS: In addition, those who would like have been welcomed to enter the mosque at 7:15 p.m. to meet with their outreach coordinator, observe evening prayers and to engage in a short question and answer session after prayers. Any who would like to do so, please review the link on suggested dress code/conduct when inside their religious space: http://www.iioc.com/request-a-tour/
Entering the mosque, of course, is optional but all are welcome!
The City of Anaheim does not require a permit for this event.
