California's 45th congressional district is based in Orange County and includes the communities of Irvine, Tustin, North Tustin, Villa Park, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, the Canyons and parts of Anaheim Hills, Coto de Caza and Orange.
As of March 2017, there were 413419 registered voters in the district. Of those registered voters, 39.6% were registered Republican, 30.4% were registered Democrat, 25.8% are No Party Preference and 4.2% are registered with another party. Of the people living in this area, Census figures based on 2011-2015 American Community Survey updates show: 64.07% are White, 1.84% are African American, 20.32% are Hispanic, 22% are Asian, 0.24% are either Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 0.31% are American Indian or Alaskan Native, 7.38% are of "some other race" and 4.17% are of two or more races.
